MIDFLORIDA Credit Union spreads the love for reading with gift of reading program

LAKELAND, FL (November 30, 2023)Credit Union is proud to announce the success of its annual Gift of  Reading program, aimed at fostering a love for reading among young students. This  year, the credit union distributed over 22,000 books to 220 schools across 19 counties. 

The Gift of Reading program, now in its eighteenth year, is dedicated to providing  brand-new books to Kindergarten students and school media centers, encouraging the  joy and importance of reading from an early age. By promoting literacy and book  accessibility, MIDFLORIDA aims to empower young minds and enhance their  educational journey. 

The highlight of this year’s Gift of Reading program was the distribution of the book  “Stick and Stone Best Friends Forever.” The heartwarming story of friendship and  teamwork captivated young readers, instilling fundamental values while sparking the  imagination. 

“Reading is the foundation for a successful education and future,” said Vanessa  Hernandez, Chief Retail Delivery at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union. “We are proud to play a  role in inspiring children to become passionate readers and helping provide them with  the skills they need to excel academically.”
