Mills42 Federal Credit Union school supply drive a huge success

LOWELL, MASS (September 14, 2023)Realizing that family budgets are tight and the economy  is difficult for many to navigate, Mills42 Federal Credit Union created a  School Supply Drive for Butler Middle School students earlier this summer,  to help take some of the financial burden off local families.

The credit union issued an announcement in the July/August newsletter to  their members, asking people to drop school supply donations at the Mills42  branch, located at 83 Merrimack Street in Lowell. Supplies requested  included such items as pencils, pens, highlighters, glue sticks, tape,  notebooks, binders, index cards, Post-It Notes and more.

“Through generous contributions from Mills42 members, staff, volunteers  and the credit union itself, we were able to assemble 42 bags filled with  mostly everything that was on the student supply list,” said Derek Cronin, President and CEO of Mills42 FCU. “Back to school shopping can be  stressful, especially when money is tight. By taking school supply shopping  off the shoulders of the parents and giving the students all the tools they  need, we hope this will lead to a successful school year for those families.”

The school supply bags were personally delivered to Butler Middle School  Principal Jaime Moody on Monday, August 28, just in time for the new  school year.
