Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union launches Samsung Pay and Android Pay

MC EFCU expands mobile wallet options

GERMAN TOWN, MD (May 18, 2016) — Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union (MC EFCU) announced that members with credit or debit cards can now use Samsung Pay and Android Pay. The availability of these new mobile services is just one of many digital banking capabilities offered by the credit union for the convenience of members.

“Mobile wallet” services such as Samsung Pay and Android Pay enable users to use their mobile device to pay for transactions at participating merchants. Payments made through Samsung Pay and Android Pay are considered highly secure, as the mobile device does not store the user’s card number. Instead, a unique, encrypted security number is provided for each transaction.

“We are excited to begin offering the ‘mobile wallet’ services of Samsung Pay and Android Pay, the latest additions in our wide-ranging availability of state-of-the-art technologies to benefit our members,” said Jim Norris, President and CEO of MC EFCU. “In testing the technology, we’ve had great reactions and positive feedback while making purchases at different merchants. It is a continuous priority for us to provide new technologies to our members, as we strive to provide simple and secure ways for them to handle their finances.”

Compatible Samsung Pay devices include the Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 active, Galaxy S7 edge, and the Galaxy S7. Android Pay users need a smartphone or tablet running Android 4.4 or above.

In addition, MC EFCU now offers members the ability to use their credit or debit card with Visa Checkout. A fast, convenient way to pay online. Visa Checkout securely saves account information so users spend less time making payments online.
