LEAGUE CITY, Texas (February 3, 2012) – After another successful year of AMOCO Federal Credit Union’s Together We Can Do Good campaign, six local non-profit organizations received more than $6,300 as a direct result of the credit union’s dedication to the community.

For the second consecutive year, the credit union implemented their “Can Do Good” campaign which focuses on area food pantries and non-profit organizations that provide assistance to local residents who are struggling to meet their family’s basic needs. During the campaign, AMOCO pledged to donate $25 to Galveston County food pantries for every vehicle financed with AMOCO Federal Credit Union during the months of October, November and December 2011. In addition, the credit union also partnered with six local dealerships who are also strong supporters of our community: Norman Frede Chevrolet, Clear Lake Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Star Toyota, McRee Ford, Gay Family Auto, and Ron Carter Texas City. AMOCO thanks each dealership for their dedication to the cause, willingness to collect canned goods at their location and help in spreading a message of kindness and giving.

Special recognition is awarded to Gay Family Auto and Ron Carter Texas City, who pledged to match the credit union’s donation by contributing $25 for every vehicle they financed with AMOCO. Together, the two dealerships donated $2,100 towards the cause! At the end of the year, 13 barrels of food were collected and more than $37,800 was raised, and now benefits St. Vincent de Paul (Texas City); Gleanings From The Harvest (Texas City/Galveston); H.I.S. Ministries (Santa Fe); M.I. Lewis Social Service Center (Dickinson); Interfaith Caring Ministries (League City); and Hope Village Residential & Support Services (Friendswood). The campaign’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the support of AMOCO members, management, employees, Select Business Partners, and residents of Galveston County.

Mark Davis, Executive Director of Gleanings From The Harvest/Galveston County Food Bank, had this to say, “AMOCO FCU’s Together We Can Do Good Campaign will help us supplement 25,220 meals for families living throughout the area where today, we find 1 in 5 facing nutritional food insecurity throughout the year. Our special thanks to AMOCO, auto dealerships and members for your support.” Ludger Dauphine, Chapter President for St. Vincent de Paul, also credited the cause that helped their organization significantly. He said, “AMOCO Federal Credit Union has become an integral partner in providing food for the SVDP food pantry. The Can Do Good campaign, for the past couple of years, has allowed us to help more families than ever before. We look forward to continuing a great relationship with AMOCO Federal Credit Union.” If you would like to hear what the other non-profit organizations has to say about AMOCO’s commitment to bettering the lives of those in our community, visit
