Mountain West Credit Union Association formally endorses Andy Biggs for Congress

DENVER, CO (August 10, 2016) — The Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) which represents 41 of Arizona’s credit unions announces it is endorsing Republican Andy Biggs in his bid for the United States House of Representatives. The endorsement comes after extensive candidate interviews.

“Biggs’ belief in conservative financial principles, including calling for a balanced budget, aligns well with the sound fiscal priorities of Arizona’s credit unions and the entire credit union industry,” said Scott Earl, President and CEO of MWCUA.  Additionally, Biggs has called for reduced taxes, and reductions in regulations that hurt families and businesses.

“Our interview process made it clear that Mr. Biggs was the right candidate for Arizona credit unions,” added Earl. “His solid financial principles resonate with credit unions and their members,” he said. “Mr. Biggs also realizes that regulatory relief is a critical component of a healthy economy.”

Biggs is a retired lawyer, and was most recently president of the Arizona state senate. He has the endorsement of a long list of entities and political allies, including retiring Congressman Matt Salmon, whose open seat Biggs is vying to fill.

Arizona Republicans will determine their candidate for the open congressional seat in the August 30 primary, with the winner heading to the November general election.
