MSUFCU announces addition to Executive Leadership team

EAST LANSING, MI (March 1, 2024) — Rob Johnson, Chief Internal Auditor for MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), recently was added as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

“Rob’s promotion to the Executive Leadership Team underscores his commitment and expertise at MSUFCU,” said April Clobes, President and CEO. “His extensive background in audit and compliance, and his focus on member safety, makes him an invaluable addition to our leadership team.”

Having worked at MSUFCU in various roles since 2012, Johnson brings more than 15 years of audit expertise to his responsibilities at the Credit Union and its subsidiaries, the Desk Drawer Fund and Reseda Group. He has served as Chief Internal Auditor since 2016. In his role, Johnson oversees the development and execution of comprehensive audit plans, provides recommendations for mitigating risk, and evaluates internal controls. He also leads a team of nine audit professionals.

“I am excited to bring my background and experience to the Executive Leadership Team to represent the audit and compliance aspects of the Credit Union,” said Johnson. “Being elevated as a voice for the audit program, regulatory compliance, and risk management naturally ties into fulfilling MSUFCU’s strategic pillar of safety and soundness and maintaining the trust of our members.”

In addition to his work at MSUFCU, Johnson is committed to his field and helping audit professionals advance. Johnson serves on several boards, including the Association of Credit Union Audit and Risk Professionals (ACUARP), the Lansing Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Michigan Credit Union League’s Capitol Area Chapter of Credit Unions, often taking on leadership roles within these organizations. Johnson’s dedication to furthering his field and the credit union movement has led to recognition from ACUARP for audit processes and practices implemented by the MSUFCU Internal Audit Team. Johnson is also committed to community youth, previously serving on the Board of Directors for the Michigan 4-H Foundation and the Michigan Association for Children’s Mental Health.

Johnson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Northwood University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
