MSUFCU announces its 2019 charity partners

EAST LANSING, MI (January 15, 2019) — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce the charity partners its employees selected for their 2019 charity campaign! Each year, employees work together to support our communities through a yearlong charity campaign. Credit Union employees raised $231,780 for selected 2018 charity partners and look forward to increasing fundraising and volunteer efforts this year.

Employees will raise funds and awareness throughout the year for these local organizations: Child and Family Charities, Be Nice Mental Health Foundation, Hope Against Trafficking, and Capital Area United Way.

Child and Family Charities’ mission is to strengthen and support children, families, and individuals in the community. Based in Lansing, the organization operates 17 programs serving 7,000 children, youth, and families each year in mid-Michigan. Programs include child abuse prevention, services for children in foster care and families in the adoption process, behavioral and mental health screening and counseling, and an Angel House residential program for pregnant and parenting teen girls in foster care.

The Be Nice Mental Health Foundation works to build an understanding of mental health in communities by inspiring people to recognize, understand, accept, and take action. The Grand Rapids-based organization strives to reduce the teen suicide rate by addressing the stigma surrounding mental health, equipping students, staff, and parents with tools to recognize mental illness, providing outreach programs to educate the public, and connecting impacted individuals to important services such as counseling and screening tests.

Hope Against Trafficking provides safe housing and restorative support for adult female survivors of sex and labor trafficking in southeast Michigan. Through its 24-month residential program, the Oakland County-based organization offers rent-free housing and comprehensive services focused on the physical, mental and individual transformation of these women so they become empowered to thrive once again.

The Capital Area United Way (CAUW) supports programs and services in the Greater Lansing area that address complex health and human service problems. Its vision is that everyone deserves the opportunity to have a good life through a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
