MSUFCU’s James Hunsanger appointed to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Council

MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is pleased to announce the appointment of James Hunsanger, MSUFCU’s Chief Risk Officer, as one of seven new members to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau‘s Credit Union Advisory Council by Acting Director Mick Mulvaney on September 7, 2018.

“I am honored to serve on this council,” Hunsanger said. “I look forward to playing a key role in advising the Bureau leadership on a broad range of consumer financial issues from a credit union perspective.”

Mulvaney said, "I am appointing experts to the Bureau’s advisory committees who will bring a fresh perspective to our important work. These experts are highly talented individuals in consumer finance markets, and we look forward to working closely with them throughout their service."

The Bureau regulates the offering and provision of consumer financial products or services under the federal consumer financial laws and educates and empowers consumers to make better informed financial decisions. As a U.S. government agency, the CFPB makes sure banks, lenders, and other financial companies treat consumers fairly.

The newly appointed members include experts in consumer protection, financial services, FinTech, community development, fair lending, civil rights, and consumer financial products and services as well as representatives of community banks and credit unions. Advisory committee membership reflects expertise across the range of issues under the Bureau’s jurisdiction. New members will serve a one-year term.
