My Personal Credit Union announces name change

WYOMING, MI (August 20, 2019) — My Personal Credit Union (MPCU) announced that effective August 19, 2019, the credit union’s name transitioned to Bloom Credit Union (BCU), to better represent the organization’s goal of helping people thrive financially.

“After a comprehensive review of our mission, vision, core values and an analysis of our market positioning, our Board of Directors and management team decided to make this exciting change,” BCU CEO Daniel Baines said. “The new name and the credit union’s new mission of ’Helping cultivate your dreams’ will better position the credit union for the future.

“We’ve had a solid reputation and earn very high member survey satisfaction marks from our existing members,” Daniel Baines, BCU’s CEO said. “But our name was a bit confusing to many, a little long, and it didn’t really fit with where we were going as an organization. The new name is distinct, easy to remember, in line with our historical strengths, and it will allow us to focus on our passion for helping people thrive financially. In fact, as part of this transition, we’ve been taking a look at people’s finances and often find ways to lower their monthly car loan or credit card payments in a significant way!”

Over the past 68 years, BCU has grown to over 14,000 members and five branches in the Greater Grand Rapids area. “One of the primary reasons our credit union has continued to grow is that our leadership has continually embraced change to meet the ever-changing needs of those who live in our branch communities.” Baines said.

During the transition, members account numbers will remain the same, and their checks, debit cards, credit cards, online banking and versatile app will all continue to function in the same way. Members will soon begin to see the transition in branches and on the website. The mpcu.org website will automatically redirect to the new website, bloomcu.org.

“What will not change is the friendly service and fantastic overall value that members have come to expect from BCU,” Baines said. The credit union offers a comprehensive range of financial services, from credit cards and mortgages to small business loans and retirement planning services, through its subsidiary, Financial Resource Advisors, L.L.C.
