NAFCU strengthens its regulatory compliance team

WASHINGTON, DC (January 7, 2014) --  The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has added Brandy Bruyere, Alicia Nealon and Ricardo Pineres to its team of regulatory compliance counsels as it seeks to enhance the association’s “extreme member service” and bolster assistance to members as regulations continue to roll out.

In the regulatory compliance counsel role, each individual will be responsible for handling regulatory compliance inquiries from member credit unions, authoring newsletter publications and blog posts on issues affecting federal credit unions, and presenting on regulatory topics at NAFCU events and conferences.

“Bruyere, Nealon and Pineres are great additions to our already outstanding team, which is dedicated to providing our members with extreme member service,” said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU’s director of regulatory compliance. “I am confident that our team is well-equipped to keep the association’s members apprised of critical regulatory compliance issues that keep coming their way and to address their questions in a highly responsive, timely manner.”

Before joining NAFCU, Bruyere was a financial law and policy analyst for the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security, where she worked on issues relating to derivatives regulations. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from American University.

Nealon comes to the association from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), where she worked in the Office of General Counsel. She holds a law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University.

Pineres was previously employed at the Maryland & D.C. Credit Union Association as vice president of advocacy-legislative affairs. In that role, he represented Maryland and D.C.-based credit unions with regards to regulatory, legislative, and political issues at the federal, state, and local levels. Pineres is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from James Madison University.
