NAFCU’s sold-out regulatory compliance seminar kicks off in Music City

NASHVILLE, TN (October 22, 2013) -- Credit union professionals from around the country are gathering today to kick off the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ (NAFCU) 2013 Regulatory Compliance Seminar, which sold out this year. The conference runs through Friday, Oct. 25, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

“The seminar’s sold-out status underscores the high value that credit union professionals place in the event’s innovative curriculum and speakers each year,” said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU director of regulatory compliance. “Attendees will obtain comprehensive knowledge about the current regulatory landscape that will help their compliance team tackle any challenges they face head-on.”

Credit union compliance professionals David Reed and Rusty Vellek will deliver the seminar’s feature presentation, “What Does Having a Culture of Compliance Mean for Your Credit Union?” Attendees will learn the necessary tools to gain support for and achieve a winning culture of compliance at their credit union.

Additional speakers at the seminar include NAFCU Regulatory Compliance Counsel Bernadette Clair; NCUA Staff Attorney for the Office of General Counsel Justin M. Anderson; CFPB Mortgage Implementation Lead Lisa Applegate; and Wolters Kluwer Financial Services Director of Financial Crime Control Strategy and Consulting, Risk and Compliance Shannon Bennett.

The event highlights the latest obstacles and changes in credit union regulations, presents opportunities for networking and gives NAFCU Certified Compliance Officers (NCCOs) the chance to earn the required credits needed to renew their prestigious designation.

The seminar is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers. For those who were unable to register before the seminar sold out or are unable to attend in person, they can register for the event’s inaugural live video streaming at www.nafcu.org/seminaronline.
