August 22, 2012 – Arlington, Va.
– NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney announced today that after nearly eight years on the management team, Kate Hartig is leaving NASCUS to embrace a new opportunity.

Hartig, Vice President for Public Relations and Legislative Affairs, was responsible NASCUS’ communications and media relations, as well as Congressional relations.

“Kate has been an integral part of the NASCUS management team since 2005,” said NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney. “During her time, she greatly elevated our communications strategy and association image. She brought our communications vehicles and outreach to NASCUS members and stakeholders to a new level. Kate’s professionalism and commitment to NASCUS’ mission of advocating for the state credit system will be  missed. We wish her much success in her next endeavor.”

Hartig is joining the District of Columbia Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking as its Public Information Officer later this month. “I have enjoyed my time at NASCUS in working with state regulators and the credit union system,” said Hartig. “I have tremendous respect for NASCUS’ work, our members, my colleagues and the credit union system. I will look back fondly at my time here and wish everyone the best.”
