NASCUS’ Fortney re-elected President of Women in Housing & Finance Foundation Board of Directors

ARLINGTON, VA (July 21, 2014) —  NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney, whose re-election to another two-year term on the Women in Housing & Finance (WHF) Foundation  Board of Directors was announced on June 9 during the WHF Annual Meeting, has been re-elected to serve as the Foundation’s president.

The WHF Foundation Board consists of members of WHF who are professionals in the areas of finance, housing and law. The core mission of the organization is to partner with local nonprofit organizations whose missions are to help low-income women and children with basic financial literacy skills, housing assistance, transition services and economic empowerment. Fortney has been dedicated to the mission of WHF and the Foundation for more than 20 years, and for more than 12 years has served on the both boards in a number of positions, including Foundation treasurer and WHF president. She has served as president of the Foundation for the past two years.

“Over my many years of involvement with WHF and the WHF Foundation, I have come to understand, value and appreciate the organization’s diverse membership and its importance in the Washington, D.C., community,” Fortney said. “What I have found through my active involvement in the WHF Foundation and WHF is the true meaning and value of my membership: personal contact with accomplished and dedicated professionals.”

Fortney appointed NASCUS Regulatory and Public Policy Counsel Sabrina Cotter to serve as the Foundation’s general counsel.
