(December 13, 2013) -- Elisa Glassett, CUDE, Marketing Specialist at Sidney Federal Credit Union, represented the National Youth Involvement Board network by speaking at the Credit Union Association of New York’s Marketing Conference in November. Glassett shared with 55 attendees what NYIB is about and the importance of reporting their youth financial education presentations.
“I had the overwhelming urge to communicate the NYIB movement for all it stood for; Financial Education, Youth Marketing, Financial Products and Services, Leadership Development and Presentation Data. It was important for me to spread the word about the good work the NYIB organization does as well as talk about the annual conference. Ultimately, I was also hoping more NY credit unions would become familiar with the NYIB and begin reporting their youth financial literacy outreach presentations”, says Glasset. Glasset is also is the New York Delegate for NYIB has been involved since 2003.
The National Youth Involvement Board mission is to equip the credit union industry to reach youth. Founded in 1972 as a cooperative effort to address the rising average age of credit union members, NYIB through its network of youth advocates has reached millions of young people on behalf of credit unions and is winner of the 2011 National Credit Union Foundation Herb Wegner Memorial Award for Outstanding Organization. NYIB is the only organization collecting classroom presentation data. Among NYIB’s annual objectives are building and refining the data, helping credit unions quantify their work while providing regulators, legislators, and others a valuable example of credit unions’ philosophy at work.
