NCUA issues prohibition orders against four

ALEXANDRIA, VA (October 31, 2013) -- The National Credit Union Administration has issued four orders in October prohibiting the following individuals from participating in the affairs of any federally insured financial institution:

  • Monica Guzman, a former employee of Mountain America Federal Credit Union in West Jordan, Utah, pleaded guilty to the charge of theft. Guzman was sentenced to one year in prison, three years of probation and ordered to pay restitution.
  • Travis Jenkins, a former employee of Mountain America Federal Credit Union in West Jordan, Utah, pleaded guilty to the charge of wrongful appropriation. Jenkins was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $27,251.90.
  • Michael Swanka, a former employee of Remington Federal Credit Union in Richfield Springs, N.Y., pleaded guilty to the charge of grand larceny. Swanka was sentenced to a three-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $12,258.
  • Carla Welborn, a former employee of Credit Union of Leavenworth County in Lansing, Kans., pleaded guilty to the charge of embezzlement. Welborn was sentenced to 21 months in prison, five years supervised release and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $329,702.55.

Violation of a prohibition order is a felony offense punishable by imprisonment and a fine of up to $1 million.
