Nearly 850 credit union employees & members pack Oriole Park for fireworks night

Event sponsored by Baltimore Area Credit Unions to raise awareness about the CU difference

COLUMBIA, MD (August 23, 2017) — The 2017 Credit Union Fireworks Night was a grand slam!  Nearly 850 credit union employees, volunteers, and members packed Oriole Park, braving a fierce, pre-game rainstorm to cheer on the Orioles against the Los Angeles Angels. AL Player of the Week Manny Machado was kind enough to deliver a grand slam of his own during bottom of the ninth, delivering a 9-7 win right before the post-game fireworks. Tens of thousands of fans enjoyed the spectacular, post-game fireworks display sponsored by Baltimore Area Credit Unions.

“Our credit unions and their members had the chance to show their Oriole pride as part of the 25th Anniversary of Oriole Park,” said John Bratsakis, president/CEO, MD|DC Credit Union Association. “It was a prime opportunity to reach tens of thousands of potential members to educate them about the credit union difference and the benefits of joining a credit union.”

Prior to the game, 2,000 beverage coozies and flyers promoting the credit union difference were handed out to fans. The flyer directed fans to to find a credit union that could help them hit a financial home run.

Fireworks Night was sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter of MD|DC Credit Union Association, MD|DC Credit Union Association, CUNA Mutual Group’s TruStage insurance programs, Love My Credit Union Rewards, and the following 15 credit unions:
