NET Credit Union recently donated $500 to St. Joseph’s Center. All funds raised went towards their Go Joe Campaign for their 2018 Summer Festival. For the last twenty-one years, local weatherman, Joe Snedeker, has biked miles to raise money for the center. This year, Joe’s bike ride and telethon held another successful event and raised $438, 847.15. All money raised helps St. Joseph’s Center provide care and services to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In 1888, a group of women, including one Sister, opened their hearts and doors to orphans in the Scranton area. The St. Joseph’s Center adopted their name for the prevention of cruelty of children and aged persons. The renowned yellow building in the Green Ridge section of Scranton has been a functioning facility for residents since 1990. The center has grown immensely to help all demographics of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Today, St. Joseph’s now operates their main facility, The Trinity Child Care Center, which is a prescribed pediatric extended care center, outpatient therapy, adoption and pregnancy and family services.
The NET Credit Union family has a special bond with St. Joseph’s Center and has been volunteering at their summer festival for years. St. Joseph’s Summer Festival is an event that people of all ages look forward to each summer, especially the St. Joseph’s residents. It is great to see the community come together to help an organization that helps so many.
