NET Credit Union was awarded the 2018 SAGE Best Practices in Community Involvement Award at this year’s Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce Gala at The Hilton in downtown Scranton. The SAGE, Scranton Awards for Growth and Excellence, Awards Gala recognizes numerous local businesses in diverse categories. NET Credit Union is not only the proud winner of the 2018 Best Practices in Community Involvement Award, but also the 2017 SAGE Pride & Progress: Exterior Renovations Award, the 2016 SAGE Award for Best Practices in Customer Service and the 2016 Best Practices in Marketing and Communications.
The SAGE Best Practices in Community Involvement Award recognizes a business that demonstrates a commitment to community involvement and philanthropy as part of its core business values. In 2018, NET Credit Union’s Philanthropy Team was able to donate $30,000 to our local community. The team consists of ten employees from different departments who work together to achieve one goal: help others. Each year around Thanksgiving, the team launches their annual NETGiving Event. This year, Philanthropy members surprised Gerrity’s Supermarket shoppers with gift cards to help with their Thanksgiving grocery shopping. Seeing smiles and gratitude throughout the year is why the Philanthropy Team keeps growing and working hard to help as many as possible.
NET Credit Union also hosts two fundraisers each year for children’s charities: Annual Cornhole Tournament and NEToberfest Golf tournament. These two fundraisers raised $15,000 between two deserving charities, The Ronald McDonald House in Scranton and The Jude Zayac Foundation. The Ronald McDonald House first opened their doors in 1986 and never shut them since. Families with sick children are able to stay at the house throughout their child’s hospital stay. The Jude Zayac Foundation was founded by Theo and Greg Zayac after the sudden death of their infant son, Jude, from SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The foundation honors Jude by fighting and protecting other babies from this devastating syndrome.
