New England Federal Credit Union’s September 2016 Shred Fest destroys 17,000 pounds of sensitive documents
WILLISTON, VT (September 13, 2016) — Each year, New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) hosts free, open-to-the-public Shred Fest events at its main branch in Williston to help people protect themselves against identity theft by destroying documents containing sensitive financial information.
In this year’s fall Shred Fest on Saturday, September 10th, 17,000 pounds of documents were destroyed.
In all, the three NEFCU Shred Fests of 2016 succeeded in destroying about 34 tons of paper, which translates to almost 450 trees being saved.
