North Shore Credit Union raises $30,000 for North Shore Rescue Annual Event Supports Essential Search and Rescue Work
North Vancouver, British Columbia, July 4, 2012 – North Shore Credit Union’s (NSCU) 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament raised an impressive $30,000 in support of North Shore Rescue (NSR) on June 15, 2012. The high-energy golf tournament, dinner and auction have become an annual North Shore tradition to raise funds for the esteemed mountain search and rescue organization.
The funds raised at the event will enable NSR to build a repeater station atop Cypress Mountain to service the Cypress and Howe Sound areas. Additionally, the donation will subsidize a complete refurbishment of one of the organization’s rescue trucks including a new engine, brakes, paint, tires and special LED lighting.
“North Shore’s mountains and terrain are popular playgrounds for our clients and staff, but they can be unpredictable,” said Chris Catliff, President and CEO, North Shore Credit Union. “We’re fortunate to have the highly skilled team at North Shore Rescue watching over the North Shore 365 days a year to ensure our safety, and we’re proud to partner with this critical organization.”
Following the first round of golf, guests were treated to a visit from Talon Helicopters and their AS350 Astar helicopter. North Shore Rescue (NSR) also deployed all of its trucks along with its Argo, an ATV and two snowmobiles.

The NSR team consists of approximately 40 volunteers skilled in search and rescue operations in mountain, canyon and urban settings. They perform approximately 90 search and rescue operations annually. Members participate in different support or rescue categories, depending on individual skills and participation levels.
