Northwest Credit Union Association Board reorganizes for 2015-2016
SEATAC, WA (October 14, 2015) — With the membership’s support for a new governance model for the Northwest Credit Union Association, the Board has evolved from an 11 member, geographical and asset-sized governance model, to a more streamlined, 9 member at-large Board.
The restructuring took effect during the NWCUA’s Annual Business Meeting at Amplify Convention in Portland, Oregon last week.
Jack Fallis, President and CEO of Spokane, WA based Global Credit Union, was re-elected by his Board peers to serve a second year as Chair of the Board.
“I am humbled and honored to have received the support of the Board to serve another year as your Chair,” Fallis noted.
Brooke Van Vleet, President and CEO of St. Helens Community Credit Union in St. Helens, OR was elected to the position of Vice Chair.
Serving as Secretary/Treasurer for the 2015-2016 term will be John Zmolek, President and CEO of Seattle based Verity Credit Union.
Two members of the 2014-2015 Board of Directors concluded their Board service at the Annual Business Meeting and were honored with proclamations.
Phil Jones, a 30 year credit union veteran and a member of the NWCUA Board for six years, was praised for his stewardship. Since Jones took the reins as President and CEO of Lakewood, WA. based Harborstone Credit Union, membership has grown 52%, while assets grew from $644 million to over $1.2 billion.
Tom Griffith, CEO at Pacific NW Federal Credit Union in Portland was honored for a rich financial services background including roles as an accountant, Controller and Chief Financial Officer before he became a CEO.
Van Vleet was reelected to board service for the upcoming year along with Debie Keesee, CEO of Spokane Media FCU in Spokane, WA. The other members of the 2015-2016 Board of Directors are: Parker Cann, SVP & General Counsel, BECU, Tukwila, WA; Bert Fisher, CEO, Our Community Credit Union, Shelton, WA; Jim Lumpkin, President/CEO, USAgencies, Portland, OR; Bob Newcomb, CEO, SELCO Community Credit Union, Eugene, OR and Mina Worthington, CEO/President, Solarity Credit Union in Yakima, Washington.
