Students recognized for leadership skills, dedication to schools and communities
HERNDON, VA (July 1, 2016) — Northwest Federal Credit Union’s charitable arm, the NWFCU Foundation, recently awarded $80K in scholarships to 16 students as part of the Foundation’s annual Scholarship Program. On June 22, 2016 the Foundation held a lunch at the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club, honoring the recipients’ achievements.
“The lunch is our opportunity to commend the students for their commitment to excellence and to thank our donors and corporate sponsors, whose contributions allow the NWFCU Foundation Scholarship program to thrive,” said Executive Director of the Foundation, Alexzandra Shade. “It’s truly rewarding to celebrate with everyone who’s devoted to the Foundation’s mission to strengthen the community through scholarship.”
The Foundation has awarded $957K to 232 recipients in the past 12 years and continues to grow the scholarship program through donations and fundraising, such as the upcoming Drive for the Driven golf tournament. Pictured here are recipients in attendance at the lunch.
