Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union announces retirement of President/Chief Executive Officer
OCEANSIDE, NY (January 8, 2019) — Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union’s President and CEO, Joseph Garay, has announced his plan to retire to the Board of Directors. Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union has hired D. Hilton Associates to conduct a nationwide search to find its next President and CEO.
“We would like to thank Joe for all he has done for our credit union and our community over the past 27 years. He has been a truly inspirational leader and friend,” said Donald Maresca, Chairperson of the Board of Directors. “We wish Joe and his family all the best for whatever lies ahead.”
Garay has been associated with Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union since its inception. His father founded the credit union in 1969 and he came of age learning the business. His father ran the organization for 22 years, before passing it over to his son in 1991. Garay was born in Manhattan, graduated from Maria Regina High School in Uniondale in 1972, and then graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1978. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Oceanside, Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, and director of the New York State Credit Union League. Garay has been a Trustee at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rockville Center Inc since September 2017.
