OK/TX Sister Society Chapters collaborate

Sister Society chapters from across the Cornerstone region recently met for an evening of networking and professional development. With the help of Cornerstone League, attendees were able to gather in-person locally, while sharing the same virtual speaker with other chapters across Oklahoma and Texas at the exact same time.

Thanks to the convenience of video conferencing, professionals from several credit unions across the region all had the opportunity to hear from Carol Schillios, a maverick change-maker. Her passion for credit unions spans four decades as a master trainer and keynote speaker at state, national and international events. Carol spoke on empathy and the skill of reflective or active listening. Attendees learned from Carol’s vast experience, and then through group discussion, got to practice using the skill of active listening as it could apply to different member and colleague scenarios.

One of the Seven Cooperative Principles of Credit Unions is “Cooperation Amongst Cooperatives” – meaning that cooperatives serve members most effectively and strengthen the cooperative movement by working together. The collaborative nature of June’s Sister Society events is an example of this principle in action.
