Opendorse names Collegiate as Exclusive Financial Literacy Partner for student-athletes

LINCOLN, NE (January 27, 2026) |

Opendorse today announced Collegiate, the digital banking platform created by Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), as its Exclusive Financial Literacy Partner. The partnership will give student-athletes nationwide access to financial education courses designed for their busy schedules – available to be completed anytime, anywhere.

Collegiate and Opendorse first partnered in September 2025 for a nationwide opportunity designed for student-athletes to participate in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) while building healthy money habits. Now, the two are expanding their partnership to bring on-demand financial education to every athlete on Opendorse.

“Collegiate was built to empower students to build financial independence,” said April Clobes, President and CEO of MSUFCU and Collegiate. “This partnership with Opendorse allows us to support student-athletes with education that reflects the financial realities they’re facing today.”

Inside the education portal, student-athletes will find modules covering:

  • The impact of NIL on personal finances
  • Navigating tax season and understanding eligible deductions
  • Investing and how it shapes long-term financial health
  • Guidance for international student-athletes

Student-athletes are making significant financial decisions earlier than ever, and providing them with the confidence to manage those responsibilities is essential,” said Steve Denton, CEO of Opendorse. “Collegiate is committed to meeting athletes where they are with education that is simple, accessible, and built to help them succeed long after their college careers are over.”

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to equip student-athletes with the tools needed to build strong financial habits. By combining Collegiate’s education platform with the reach of the Opendorse athlete network, financial literacy resources will be accessible to thousands of students at every level of college athletics.
