Oregon Community Employees Volunteer on Federal Holiday

Eugene, OR – Oregon Community Credit Union branches and corporate offices were closed Monday, February 21 for Presidents Day, but staff did not take the day off! Oregon Community Credit Union employees volunteered at nine different community service projects, contributing over 600 hours of volunteer service.

Employees teamed up in groups of approximately 30 at each location, including NextStep Recycling, School Garden Project, Nearby Nature, Willamalane Center, St. Vincent de Paul, Oregon Supported Living Program, Birth to Three, Eugene Hearing & Speech Center and A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village (Salem).  Overall, staff volunteers painted 80 picnic tables and the inside of an entire house, created a pumpkin patch, painted offices and children’s furniture, cleaned up a garden area, assembled packets, played with kids and made beads for Mother’s Day.

Oregon Community Credit Union CEO Mandy Jones said, “We just proved that you can do amazing things when you are a high performing team that has great expectations and believes in what you do.” Oregon Community Credit Union maintains a steadfast commitment to keeping Oregon strong by investing in its members and the communities it serves. “Being able to become a united group and devote an afternoon to help change people’s lives made a difference in our lives too,” said Jones.
