Painesville Credit Union honored with John F. Clair Award

PAINESVILLE, OH (February 22, 2024) — At the Wednesday, February 21 Painesville City Council meeting, Painesville Credit Union was presented with the 2024 John F. Clair Economic Development Award for their continued commitment to and investment in the Painesville community.

“I think it’s fitting to honor a business that was organized over 80 years ago, in 1942, by a small group of City employees at the Painesville City Garage,” said Susan Crotty, Economic Development Director. Since that time, the credit union has grown and now serves anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Lake County. The credit union not only supports individuals and business owners with financial opportunities, but also offers financial counseling to those in need.

One of Painesville Credit Union’s stated principles is to seek to be a proactive part of the community and their commitment to volunteering and supporting various groups and charities exemplifies the purpose of the John F Clair Award. Painesville Credit Union holds scam seminars for senior citizens and provides Spanish language scam alert books to HOLA Ohio Community Center. Additionally, Member Service Representatives volunteer their time to work with students at Painesville City Local Schools to teach them how money and banking works, and the importance of building and maintaining good credit.

Painesville Credit Union has supported various groups over the years including the schools, Painesville Little League, the Girl Scouts, the Painesville Lions Club, theater groups, Project Hope, Toys for Tots, Lake County Fair, Party in the Park, several Painesville Recreation events and Community Clean Up Days.

“As their nomination stated, Painesville Credit Union is one where you are referred to by name and asked questions about how you and your family are. “It’s the credit union with a small feel but a big heart,” said Crotty when presenting the award.

Lori Guzzi, CEO, and Lynne Kline, COO, accepted the award on behalf of the team and Board of Directors at Painesville Credit Union. The credit union is located at 280 N St. Clair Street, Painesville.
