Park View Federal Credit Union observes Veteran’s Day with 360 hours of service to the community
HARRISONBURG, VA (November 18, 2015) — Park View Federal Credit Union lived out its heritage of “Neighbors Serving Neighbors” by observing Veteran’s Day in active service to the community. PVFCU hosted a Community Connection service day on November 11 to show their appreciation to many who have served the community, country and world.
PVFCU employees and members served a total of 360 hours together around the community. Volunteers helped with tasks such as fall yard and garden work, sorting donations and books, food preparation, maintenance projects, cleaning, office work, and wood splitting.
“In just the third year of this annual event, we were excited to have the highest number of volunteers yet!” said John Beiler, President and CEO. “We had a rewarding day serving together alongside some of our members, and hope that even more will participate with us next year.”
Volunteers served at the following locations: Gift & Thrift, Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic, Highland Retreat, The Volunteer Farm, Family Life Resource Center, First Step, Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, Tried and True, Community Preschool, and Patchwork Pantry, Valley Mennonite Brethren Heritage Center, and New Bridges Immigrant Resource Center.
Eastern Mennonite University, Western Associates, Design Concrete Builders, Solace Therapeutic Massage, and Glimpse Photography are some of PVFCU’s partner organizations and member businesses participating as Community Connection sponsors. “We are grateful for the partnership and assistance of our generous sponsors to help make this event possible and a memorable experience for the participants,” said Lisa Lehman, Marketing Manager. “We’re thankful to be working with these local businesses who also value the importance of serving and giving back to the community.”
