Park View Federal Credit Union wins First Place Social Responsibility Award
HARRISONBURG, VA (October 21, 2015) — Park View Federal Credit Union has been awarded with first place in the state for the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award. The award honors credit unions for their social responsibility work and community service.
PVFCU won the award for its 2nd annual Community Connection held on Nov. 11, 2014. PVFCU lived out their heritage of “Neighbors Serving Neighbors” by observing Veteran’s Day in active service to the community, to show their appreciation to many who have served the community, country and world. PVFCU employees, along with employees from some member businesses served a total of 325 hours in the Harrisonburg area at non-profit organizations.
Volunteers helped with tasks such as fall yard and garden work, sorting donations and books, food preparation, maintenance projects, painting, cleaning, assisting with classroom preparation, and wood splitting.
“We had a great time serving together alongside some of our members,” said John Beiler, President and CEO. “We hope that our Community Connection event continues to expand, with more members participating each year, in order to make a bigger impact in our community.”
The competition is named after Dora Maxwell, a credit union pioneer, who worked with numerous organizations to improve the living standards of the poor and needy. The award is sponsored by the Virginia Credit Union League and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).
