Passing of Yolo Federal Credit Union Board Member Cap Thomson

YOLO COUNTY, CA (August 10, 2023) — Yolo Federal Credit Union announced the passing of Captane (Cap) Thomson, a long time volunteer member of the Yolo FCU Board of Directors.

Mr. Thomson had been a director of Yolo FCU since 2002 and held the position of Treasurer. He spent 27 years as the Yolo County Mental Health Director and maintained his own private practice. He was well respected for his work in the field of mental health, and he had a passion for seeing the credit union continue to assist families with their financial needs.

“Cap had a gentle spirit, and his love for our community was evident in the way he dedicated his life to the well-being of others,” said Jenee Rawlings, Yolo FCU President/CEO. “His compassion, dedication, and spark for life will always be remembered. He played an important role in the growth of Yolo FCU, and we will honor his legacy by continuing to help our community achieve financial success.”

“Cap has always kept us mindful that we serve, as volunteers, for the specific benefit of our members. His upbeat nature and wry sense of humor have kept us all on our toes,” said Bill Schemel, Yolo FCU Board Chairman. “We have all gained a great deal by working with Cap as volunteers. It has been a privilege for us to count him among our friends.”

Yolo FCU expresses gratitude for Cap Thomson’s faithful service and for embodying the credit union motto of People Helping People. A donation of $5,000 will be made in his honor to NAMI Yolo County. NAMI Yolo County provides advocacy, support, education, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
