Service allows deposits to be captured via camera on a mobile device
Pleasanton, Calif., June 5, 2012 – Patelco Credit Union, a full-service financial institution with 40 branches throughout Northern California, announced today the release of Anywhere Deposit, a new mobile banking app feature that will enable members to conveniently and reliably deposit checks into their accounts using their iPhone® and Android ™ phones.
“By giving members the freedom and convenience of making secure, real-time deposits from their smartphones, our Anywhere Deposit feature will make a significant difference in our members’ lives, by reducing the frequency of in-person bank visits and speeding up the deposit process,” said Ryan Misasi, Interim Chief Operating Officer of Patelco. “This technology is changing the way people bank, and we pride ourselves on our ability to innovate our online and mobile service offerings in response to our members’ growing expectations and to reach a new generation of users.”
Anywhere Deposit combines the convenience of making deposits from anywhere, with the same safety and security of in-branch or ATM transactions. The feature is the latest of many online and mobile banking services Patelco has offered its members to simplify their banking experience, and is an ideal solution for members without the flexibility to conveniently visit a branch location, including those who travel frequently or do not live or work near a branch.
Anywhere Deposit works for Patelco online banking users. The member downloads the app to their iPhone or Android phone, takes a picture of the check (making sure account numbers and deposit amounts are fully visible), and sends the image to Patelco.
There is no fee for using Anywhere Deposit, however message and data rates may apply depending on the member’s cellular plan.
