Patsy Van Ouwerkerk Named to Chair Solano Economic Development Corporation Board

Vacaville, CA - Patsy Van Ouwerkerk, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union, has been named chairman of the Solano Economic Development Corporation board of directors.

Van Ouwerkerk will serve as the 2013 chairman for the economic development organization which is currently celebrating its 30th year anniversary.

A native of North Carolina, Patsy attended Campbell University in North Carolina where she majored in English and Journalism. During her 37 year career in credit unions, she has served on numerous state and federal credit union boards and committees and has volunteered extensively in the communities where she has lived.

Patsy became the president and CEO of Travis Credit Union in Vacaville, California on June 1, 2002.  Under her leadership the credit union has grown to $2.2 billion in assets and serves approximately 178,000 members at 22 branch locations. The credit union’s field of membership includes individuals who live or work in 12 counties in Northern California and the military and civilian personnel of Travis Air Force Base.

Locally, Patsy is a Rotarian.  She is past Chair of the Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee, is on the advisory board of the Vacaville Boys and Girls Club and a  member of the Major Employers Council for both Vacaville and Fairfield. She is the past Chair of the Board of the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce.

In 2004 she was recommended by Travis Air Force Base and selected to attend the National Security Forum at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base.  Patsy is the 2007 recipient of the California Credit Union League’s Distinguished Service Award.  In 2006, the Credit Union Executives Society named her Executive of the Year.  Earlier in 2006, she received a Woman of Distinction Award in the banking and finance category from the East Bay Business Times. In 2005, she received the Athena Award from the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce for her role as a leader and mentor.

“Patsy has been recognized for her contributions to the Solano County community and has demonstrated through her community involvement that she is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Solano County, and through her EDC leadership our board will be able to preserve and increase our positive economic posture,” stated Person.
