Pelican State Credit Union is putting health and wellness at the center of their future Corporate Campus on O’Neal Lane—Louisiana’s first WELL-Registered project!
The credit union has partnered with Labarre Associates to improve the lives of people who work in and visit the building by designing it according to the WELL Building Standard.
The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.
“Our main goal is to put the experience of our team members at the forefront of these building decisions,” explained Pelican State CU CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad.“When we invest in their development and wellness, they perform at a higher level, and that’s evident in the service they provide to our members and one another.”
The WELL Building Standard has influenced architectural and design decisions such as air circulation, window placement, staircase design, and gathering spaces. These decisions are meant to change personal patterns, like choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator.
“With this building, I believe we’re seeing the start of a trend,” said Conrad. “We’ll make Baton Rouge a better place to live and work together.”
The one-of-a-kind 55,000+ square foot building is scheduled to be completed in 2020. For more information on Pelican’s new Corporate Campus, please contact VP of Marketing and Outreach Leigh Porta at 225-408-6122.
