Pelican State CU gives away 500 pounds of free crawfish to members

BATON ROUGE, LA (April 8, 2019) — Hundreds gathered to join Pelican State Credit Union in celebration ofits new St. Landry branchon Thursday, March 28.And it’s no surprise–the credit union was giving away 500 pounds of free crawfish to its members!

The credit union gave awayfree crawfish, corn, and potatoes to 200 Pelican members who stopped by its St. Landry branch at 2508 South Union Street. Everyone received a custom Pelican crawfish tray and copy of The History of Pelican’s St. Landry Branch as well.

Along with free food, drinks, music, and games, there was also an opportunity for each guest to enter to win a 50-inch Smart TV! Estelle of Pineville, Louisiana, drove all the way out to Opelousas for the Grand Opening and back to claim her prize.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took placeprior to the crawfish boil, giving guests the chance to meet Pelican’s St. Landry branch team, CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad, and members of the Board of Directors. Member Service Representative Norma Reed led the ceremony with a prayer, and the Pelican team was joined by Mayor Julius Alsandor and Chamber President Raquella Manuel for the ribbon cutting.

Pelican State Credit Union has served the Opelousas community since 1998 and currently services over 6,000 members in the area. The credit union offers free one-on-one credit counseling for all its members and regularly hosts Financial Wellness Workshops for the community and local business partners. In addition tofree events and credit counseling, Pelican offers a variety of convenient products and opportunities to participate in giveaways throughout the year.
