Pelican State CU merges with East Feliciana Teachers FCU

BATON ROUGE, LA (August 16, 2017) — Pelican State Credit Union merged with East Feliciana Teachers Federal Credit Union on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

East Feliciana Teachers FCU sought mergers from larger credit unions in the area in order to provide enhanced services to their members. The credit union chose Pelican due to its long-time commitment to providing free financial education to East Feliciana Parish schools.

“Pelican is honored to provide all 398 members of East Feliciana Teachers FCU with access to our 12 branches, as well as products and services that were previously unavailable to them, such as free checking accounts, free credit counseling and online banking,” said Pelican CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad.

East Feliciana Teachers FCU’s branch inside of the school board building is no longer operational. Members can use any one of Pelican’s online or mobile services along with their local branches in Zachary and Jackson, Louisiana, to access their accounts.

Following the merger, Pelican attended the East Feliciana Parish School Board’s Teacher Pre-Service Training Day. Pelican provided giveaways and on-site account opening. Attendees also met Pelican team members and learned more about the benefits of credit union membership.

Everyone employed by the East Parish School Board and their immediate family members are eligible to become members of Pelican. For information about becoming a Pelican member, please visit pelicanstatecu.com/join.

Pelican looks forward to serving the employees of East Feliciana School Board and to a continued partnership to teach financial literacy to its students. The credit union has successfully merged with Monroe Credit Union, Louisiana Farm Bureau Credit Union, Lake Charles TELCO Credit Union, Pinekraft Federal Credit Union, Kaiser Federal Credit Union and Chalmette Refinery Credit Union in the past.
