PenFed Credit Union, the nation’s second largest federal credit union, today announced the promotion of Maura Watson to EVP of Talent, Risk and Communications. Watson is responsible for leading enterprise risk management, talent recruitment and development, and corporate communications.

“Again, it gives me great pleasure to promote from within our ranks,” said PenFed Credit Union President/CEO and PenFed Foundation CEO James Schenck. “Maura is an extremely talented member of the PenFed team and brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience. She will help us shape the future of PenFed and the next generation of PenFed leaders.”

Watson reports to Schenck as a member of the executive team. Watson joined PenFed in early 2021 as SVP of Enterprise Risk. Prior to joining PenFed, she spent 28 years as a Central Intelligence Agency Officer, with operational work spanning five continents. She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in History from the University of Scranton, and an Executive MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

“Serving PenFed members, under the direction of our exceptional Board and with the leadership of James and the Executive Team, is absolutely a gift in my life.
