People’s Credit Union Names 2010 Employee of the Year

(Middletown, RI):  On February 15 People’s Credit Union named Izilda Afonso, People’s Human Resources Generalist, as the 2010 Employee of the Year.  The Employee of the Year is selected from a group of employees that were nominated each quarter to People’s President’s Council.  The purpose of People’s President’s Council is to promote and reward excellence in meeting and exceeding service standards and core values of People’s Credit Union.  Employees are nominated to the Council by their peers and selected by the leadership of the Credit Union. 

“Izilda always has a smile on her face and is a pleasure to work with.  She consistently goes above and beyond for the Credit Union,” stated Melissa Burton, VP of Human Resources for People’s.

Izilda has worked for People’s Credit Union for the past four years.  She was selected for showing loyalty and demonstrating respect with each person she encounters.  She is an active member of People’s Community Enhancement Committee, an employee run committee that coordinates many volunteer, philanthropic and charitable activities for the Credit Union.    Izilda resides in East Providence, Rhode Island with her two children. 

“Izilda is knowledgeable in her field and always takes time to help no matter how small or large the request.  She has set the standard and is an inspiration for others to follow,” stated Ellen Ford, People’s President & CEO. 

People’s Credit Union serves members through six locations in Bristol, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth and Wakefield.
