HOUSTON, TX (September 3, 2015) — People’s Trust Federal Credit Union raised monetary donations by engaging employees and members to give back to the Cornerstone Credit Union League CU Cares Community Program projected to raise $115,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network.
“People Helping People is a founding principal of the credit union movement and that’s why People’s Trust is committed to helping children in need with superior medical care along with other community initiatives,” said Community Outreach Director Linda Birt.
People’s Trust started advocating and supporting the CU Cares program back in July. The credit union fundraised and sold CU Care Dogs provided by the Cornerstone Credit Union League for monetary donations made by employees and members. Each employee or member was able to purchase the care dogs and write their name on them to post in People’s Trust branch in support of approximately seventeen million children treated each year at Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.
“The Cornerstone Credit Union League, People’s Trust, and other credit unions and organizations are part of a larger collaboration nationally working together to support 170 CMN Hospitals called Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids),” said Dan Rangel, Cornerstone Credit Union League Representative. “Credit unions show their steadfast commitment to improving the lives of their members, the community and the local communities they serve as part of their operating principles. People’s Trust has shown this commitment by participating in a larger program to prove that Credit Unions Care.”
Credit unions are the third largest sponsor of CMN Hospitals, and the Children’s Miracle Network is adopted as the credit union’s charity of choice. Donations are still being accepted for at for the Cornerstone Credit Union League CU Cares Program at cornerstoneleague.coop/cus_care.
