Piedmont Advantage Credit Union President/CEO Judy Tharp honored as a 2016 Outstanding Woman Leader
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (May 3, 2016) — Piedmont Advantage Credit Union President/CEO, Judy Tharp was one of twelve honorees for the 2016 City of Winston-Salem Outstanding Women Leaders.
Initiated by Dr. Vivian H. Burke, Mayor Pro Tempore and Council Member of the Northeast Ward, the City of Winston-Salem, and Visit Winston-Salem, the Outstanding Women Leaders Program recognizes the accomplishments of women in the Winston-Salem community for significant contributions made through professional achievement and community service. 2016 marks the 13th year of the Outstanding Women Leaders Program. Since its inception 140 women have been honored.
Tharp, along with the other honorees, was acknowledged by the Mayor and City Council at their April City Council meeting. The recognition of Outstanding Women Leaders event was held on April 28, 2016 at the Historic Brookstown Inn in downtown Winston Salem. Honorees were recognized in front of their peers and awarded a commemorative plaque.
As President/CEO, Tharp oversees Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, which is the North Carolina’s ninth-largest credit union with more than 40,000 members in 7,000 zip codes. Chartered in 1949 to serve employees of Piedmont Airlines, the credit union serves a variety of employee groups and communities nationwide.
Tharp also serves on the Board of Directors for the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation, Community Development Institution Advisory Council (CDIAC) of the Federal Reserve Board of Richmond, North Carolina Economic Education Council, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) Cameron School of Business Executive Advisory Board.
Tharp is a member of the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership, Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Leadership Council – United Way of Forsyth County.
