Milwaukie, OR, June 13, 2011:  Oregon Business magazine has named its third annual “100 Best Green Companies to Work for in Oregon”, which was held on Wednesday, May 25th at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland. As a result, the Credit Union ranked #40 on their 2011 list.

The 100 Best Green Companies project recognizes those companies that approach their daily work with green values. The winners were not picked by the magazine or an outside group, but by nearly 19,000 employees from the 415 companies and nonprofits that took part in two anonymous surveys that were part of this year’s 100 Best Companies and 100 Best Nonprofits projects.  In the green survey, Providence Federal Credit Union employees’ ranked their satisfaction with the Credit Union’s green practices. Providence Federal Credit Union helps the environment by adding energy-efficient sensor lights in their offices, placing recycled bins throughout the building/branches, installing water coolers at their locations to reduce plastic bottled water, giving free Tri-met bus and Max train passes to employees to help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, and more. In addition, the Credit Union encourages their membership to go paperless on their monthly and VISA credit card statements, promotes their free Bill Pay product to help reduce paper bills and cheers the signing up of direct deposit of members’ pay checks.
