Providence Federal Credit Union unveils interactive teller machines to deliver more personal, remote banking

PORTLAND, OR (April 16, 2019) — Providence Federal Credit Union (Providence FCU) has announced that two of their service centers will now offer Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) for members. The new ITMs are now available at both their Providence Portland Medical Center at 4805 NE Glisan Street and their Milwaukie Office at 6400 SE Lake Road, Suite 125. ITMs allow members to conduct transactions remotely with a teller through a video screen.

“We’re always looking for ways to provide our members premier financial service and a personal banking experience. The new ITMs deliver both,” said Providence FCU President and CEO Shirley Cate. “Technology has come along way in making banking transactions faster and more convenient, but often lack that human touch. The new ITMs make the experience more personal.”

ITMs look similar to ATMs and can provide the same traditional teller machine services, but with real-life tellers providing financial services through interactive video conferencing. Through the face-to-face interactions with tellers and member service representatives, members can tap into additional services that, until now, were only offered at a full-branch.

Additional services include:

  • Cash and deposit checks

  • Make loan payments

  • Obtain cashier’s checks

In addition to the new ITM, Providence Portland Medical Center will also include an Interactive Service Space. The private space will allow members to interact directly via video conference with a Member Service Representative on services such as opening new lines of credit, opening checking and savings accounts, and managing account settings. The Interactive Service Space brings the credit union branch experience to the member without requiring a full footprint of a traditional branch.
