CUSO announces Gene Fredriksen as member of prestigious technology community

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (February 1, 2018) — PSCU has announced that Gene Fredriksen, Chief Information Security Strategist, has been accepted as a member of Forbes Technology Council. An invitation-only organization for senior-level technology executives, the Council is an innovative community built for the world’s most influential technology leaders. Fredriksen has over 25 years of information technology experience, with the past 20 focused specifically in the area of information security.

Forbes, one of the most iconic media companies in the world, and the team behind Young Entrepreneurial Council, a world-class entrepreneurship organization, came together to create the Forbes Technology Council. The Council is a community for executives to discuss and solve pressing business challenges with their peers and share their insights through thought leadership opportunities. It is composed of leading CIOs, CTOs and technology executives. Members are hand-selected by a committee based on their depth and diversity of experience.

“We are honored to welcome Gene into the community. Our mission with Forbes Councils is to curate successful professionals from every industry, creating a vetted, social capital-driven network that helps every member make an even greater impact on the business world,” said Scott Gerber, Founder of Forbes Councils.

As Chief Information Security Strategist for PSCU, Fredriksen is responsible for the company’s development of information protection and technology risk programs. Prior to joining PSCU, he held the positions of Global CISO for Tyco International, Principal Consultant for Security and Risk Management Strategies for Burton Group, Vice President of Technology Risk Management and Chief Security Officer for Raymond James Financial, and Information Security Manager for American Family Insurance.

He was the chair of the Security and Risk Assessment Steering Committee for BITS, the St. Petersburg College Information Security Advisory Board and the Howard University Technology Advisory Board. Fredriksen has served on the R&D committee for the Financial Services Sector Steering Committee of the Department of Homeland Security and is a Distinguished Fellow for the Global Institute for Cyber Security + Research, headquartered at the Kennedy Space Center. He is also the Executive Director for the National Credit Union Information Sharing and Analysis Organization.

“PSCU is committed to making continued strategic investments in cybersecurity technology and resources to help protect our Owner credit unions and their members,” said Chuck Fagan, PSCU President and CEO. “We are proud to have Gene represent PSCU and the credit union industry as part of Forbes Technology Council.”
