Randolph-Brooks FCU deploys new mobile phone apps

Credit union offers additional options for 6s, 6s+ and Apple Watch

LIVE OAKS, TX (January 27, 2016) — The $6.9 billion Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) announced the latest release of its newest mobile banking app for the Apple Store this week. The new release features an Apple Notification Center widget with a “Quick Balance” feature, an Apple Watch “Glance” feature, advancements in push notifications and an app icon “deep press” menu with four configurable quick action links. The app was developed by Vertifi Software, LLC, the technology CUSO of Eastern Corporate Federal Credit Union (EasCorp) in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Widgets give users quick access to information that is important to them right away. For example, RBFCU members are now able to open the “Today” view in their app to check weather conditions or stock prices, see their daily schedule, check account balances, as well as “favorite” an account for quick viewing without having to log in. Users tend to open the “Today” view frequently, and they can expect the information they are interested in to be available instantly.

“Deep press” actions take advantage of the 3D touch feature recently added to Apple’s 6s and 6s+ phones.  Along with “Today” widget actions, this new option provides convenient methods for deep linking into the application for frequently used features.

RBFCU will also take advantage of Vertifi’s second generation of Apple Watch features, including a “Glance” feature that enables users to view the account balance of their “favorite” RBFCU account, as well as all of their account balances via the RBFCU watch app.

With an estimate of 3.8 million Apple Watches sold, ‘wearables’ are getting a lot of attention as the next big thing for tech savvy consumers, and RBFCU considers watch integration to be a meaningful part of its mobile strategy.

“Our members are increasingly taking advantage of mobile technology to add convenience and security to managing their finances, so it’s important to us to continue adding features to meet their needs and expectations,” said Mary O’Rourke, chief of staff for RBFCU. “This latest release uses leading-edge technology to streamline the mobile experience, so our members can have quick access to the information they need, when and where they want it.”
