Redstone Federal Credit Union and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) marked five successful years of partnership and student achievement on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UAH Charger Union (4705 Holmes Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35899).
The UAH branch, primarily staffed by UAH students, offers valuable services and convenience to the university’s students, faculty and staff. Alongside providing work experience and career opportunities, the branch’s affinity debit card has generated $23,240 in revenue for the university since its launch. Each time a member uses the UAH-linked debit card, Redstone contributes money back to the university.
“I am excited to celebrate this partnership with UAH. This collaboration shows our commitment to investing in our community and shaping our community’s financial literacy,” said Joe Newberry, Redstone’s President and CEO.
The branch is part of Redstone’s Schools Programs, which offer high school and college students practical work experience at credit union branches on their campuses, while helping them develop essential soft skills for effective interaction.
Lawanda Coney, branch manager of UAH, says, “It’s truly an honor being a part of a program that has impacted the financial lives of so many students. Continuing financial innovations while educating young adults will be the key to our future generations’ success.”
