Santa Rosa, CA – Redwood Credit Union (RCU) was recently named California Credit Union Advocate of the Year by the California Credit Union League, the state trade association for credit unions. RCU was selected for the award based on exemplary dedication and leadership in the field of political advocacy, including ongoing efforts to educate lawmakers about the unique benefits of credit unions, and engaging staff and their membership in supporting political action to benefit and protect credit unions and their members.
“Redwood Credit Union is honored to receive this advocacy award from the California Credit Union League. Educating lawmakers about the important role credit unions play in providing consumers and businesses with affordable financial services is a vital role for us to play, so we can continue to serve our communities well,” said Robin McKenzie, Senior Vice President who oversees RCU’s government relations efforts. “We are committed to continuing to represent our 180,000 Members’ voices on Capitol Hill, in Sacramento, and with local leaders. Credit Unions are a key part of the solution to the recovery and sustainability of local, ‘Main Street’ economies, so our advocacy efforts are vitally important,” McKenzie added.
Redwood Credit Union represents credit unions—and issues related to financial matters and their Members—before local, state and federal lawmakers throughout the year. They are active participants in the California Credit Union League, and in the Connect for the Cause program, which helps credit union members and supporters to communicate directly with their legislators regarding financial legislation and other issues impacting credit unions.
Now celebrating its 60th year, Redwood Credit Union is a full-service financial cooperative with 15 branch locations throughout the North Bay and San Francisco. RCU offers complete banking services for individuals and small businesses, including checking, saving and investment accounts, consumer and real estate loans, credit cards, free online banking, financial management services, retirement planning, insurance, auto purchasing and more.
