Redwood Credit Union volunteers assist effort to restore natural habitat

SANTA ROSA, CA (April 22, 2014) --  A team of 21 Redwood Credit Union (RCU) employees and family members, along with approximately 60 other community volunteers recently participated in the 5th Annual Laguna de Santa Rosa Re-Leaf Day—a local tree-planting effort to help restore the degraded habitat area along Irwin Creek near the Laguna. More than 600 trees and shrubs were planted at the event.

“Redwood Credit Union is committed to sustainability and to our local communities—the Re-Leaf Day was a great way for us to support both,” said Stephen Hazard, RCU’s Sebastopol Branch Manager, who led RCU’s volunteer efforts for the event.

Redwood Credit Union’s sustainability programs include their Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED)-certified Administrative Offices in Santa Rosa; recycling programs at all branches; green-friendly services such as paperless online banking, bill pay and eStatements; loan discounts on qualified hybrid vehicles; and an online green center where Members can find tips on reducing waste, energy efficiency and more. The Credit Union has a Sustainability Committee which meets regularly and helps to guide and promote green awareness, education and involvement in the organization. Additional information on RCU's commitment to sustainability can be found atwww.redwoodcu.org/green.
