Reliant donates sneakers for children at North-Rose Wolcott Elementary School

SODUS, NY (April 18, 2024)Reliant Credit Union continues its mission to help students in the Finger Lakes put their best feet forward! Reliant recently donated 75 pairs of sneakers to North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School. The sneakers will be added to the school’s Courage Closet, which distributes items like clothing, toiletries, hats, gloves, coats, and more to students.

This is the second donation this year for Reliant’s Feet Forward program, a special community effort Reliant created in 2016, through which the credit union partners with area schools and organizations to provide quality sneakers to kids who need them. For the fifth year in a row, Reliant is collaborating with Jonathan Griffiths, owner of Rochester Running Company, who helped facilitate the credit union’s purchase of an array of high-quality sneakers so that the credit union could donate them to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality footwear.

“Through our Feet Forward program, we’re not just providing sneakers; we’re helping children achieve health, happiness, and endless possibilities,” said Pamela Heald, Reliant’s President & CEO. “Together with local schools and organizations, we’re nurturing that foundation for our youngest community members.”

Since Reliant started Feet Forward in 2016, the credit union has donated 2,286 pairs of sneakers—a total investment of over $66,500 to help local children.

Reliant and Rochester Running Company representatives presented the sneakers to representatives and students at North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School, including UPK Teacher Lucia Copeland. “The North Rose-Wolcott Cougar Closet is so excited to partner again this year with Reliant Credit Union and their Feet Forward Sneaker Donation program! Through this program we are able to fulfill sneaker needs for families in our district and will now have brand new sneakers for students that need them,” said Ms. Copeland. “We are so grateful for the support from Reliant and the Feet Forward program, and we look forward to using this donation to support our schools and community.”
