Robins Federal Credit Union participates in a community project

WARNER ROBINS, GA (August 31, 2015) — Robins Federal Credit Union recently contributed over $200,000 to eight organizations with their Community Project. They selected different organizations based on the organization’s presence and work they do for the community.

The goal with the Community Project was to highlight Robins Federal’s commitment to social responsibility through donations & sponsorships, increase social media engagement, and create positive PR for the credit union. Robins Federal believes it’s important to maintain a positive image in the community and give back whenever possible to various organizations and charitable groups.

The budget for this project was $250,000. They have given a total of $200,192.01 to 8 organizations. This funding will assist with 15 various projects that support their organization and impact over 2,800 people. The organizations represented assist with medical needs, developmentally disabled adults, and families coping with a death, children battling an illness and violence awareness and prevention.

Organizations were nominated by their Board of Directors and management team. Robins Federal reached out to the approved organizations to explain the Community Project. These organizations were asked to provide three to five sponsorship options. These needs ranged from equipment, facility upgrades and funding for various procedures or events. Once all of the entries were received the Community Project committee reviewed the request and voted on which sponsorship options they felt could provide the most assistance to those within the community. The Community Project has allowed for several of the board members as well as management to volunteer their time throughout this entire process. Whether it was remaining in contact through email or phone, attending a meeting to determine organizations, make final decisions about this project or tour the local organizations, more than 200 hours were spent on this project.

This was a unique project because it abandoned the traditional methods of giving back to the community through donations and sponsorships. Typically organizations reach out to Robins Federal for funding and it’s rare that they contacted them asking to provide support. By providing this support the organizations are able to continue assisting and strengthening the community.
