Royal Credit Union announces new program director of community relations

Royal Credit Union (Royal) announces Melissa Janssen as Program Director of Community Engagement. Janssen is responsible for leading Royal’s sponsorship and event participation strategy in Minnesota and Wisconsin while creating, implementing and managing community partnerships. Janssen also works on maintaining positive government relationships with elected officials, policy makers, and civic leaders to advocate on behalf of credit union Members.

Janssen has been with Royal since 2016 starting as a Community Financial Education Coordinator and becoming a Financial Education Supervisor in 2019. Prior to her time at Royal, Janssen taught language arts and composition in Guayaquil, Ecuador, worked as a Protective Behaviors Educator, and was a Youth Program Director for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley. Janssen graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a double major in political science and Spanish with a business emphasis.

Janssen is a member of the Wisconsin Credit Union League Young Professionals Advisory Board, Royal Credit Union Young Professionals and Young Professionals of the Chippewa Valley. Janssen has served as Eau Claire County Board Supervisor for District 25 since 2018 and is an active community volunteer. Janssen enjoys spending her spare time outdoors and resides in Eau Claire with her husband and their dog.
