Royal Credit Union hosts diaper drive to address growing community need

EAU CLAIR, WI (May 1, 2025) |

Royal Credit Union (Royal) is teaming up with three local non-profits—Feed My People Food Bank, St. Croix Valley Food Bank, and Diaper Bank of Minnesota—to host its inaugural diaper drive, addressing a growing need in the community.

“As many as 50% of families are struggling to afford enough diapers for their babies, yet the cost of diapers is not covered by government assistance programs like WIC,” says Heidi Cornelius, Community Engagement Coordinator at Royal Credit Union. “We are proud to support this vital cause and make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”

Michelle Pride, Community Engagement Specialist from Feed My People Food Bank, shares, “We’ve seen a continued demand for diapers. This partnership helps us continue to provide for those who are most vulnerable, and we are grateful for Royal Credit Union’s support.”

Between May 1 and May 31, both unopened and opened packages of disposable diapers and wipes can be donated at any Royal office. Monetary donations will also be accepted in office or online at rcu.org/DiaperDrive to assist the non-profit partners in purchasing additional supplies to support those in need.

Becky Ruska with St. Croix Valley Food Bank adds, “The difference a simple donation can make is astounding. Diapers are more than just a necessity—they are a lifeline for guardians who are doing their best to make ends meet.”

“Diapers are often an overlooked essential,” says Kari Ullom Bakos from Diaper Bank of Minnesota. “For families living paycheck to paycheck, diapers are a critical need. With the support from this drive, we can ease the burden on caregivers, allowing them to focus on other priorities without worrying about their child’s basic needs.”

At the conclusion of the drive, the non-profit partners will distribute the collected diapers and wipes to families in need within the local communities where the donations were made. Those donating diapers are encouraged to consider sizes 4, 5, 6, and 7, as these sizes are in particularly high demand and often receive the fewest donations.
